This is one of those slow burn fish-out-of-water romances that can suck you in and keep you entertained quietly or cause you to yell at the pages and ask for some hot action. I found it somewhere in between.That's because julian and Kerry, totally opposite in background and experiences, were expertly developed by author Christina Lee, to the point that I was able to put up with their eventual losing fight against having a fling. That's also despite the fact that the family situations of both MCs could seem to be confusing at times if you were not carefully reading at the start of the book.Read the blurb closely and then get started.Keep in mind that Julian is a PTSD afflicted veteran who lives in New York City with his mother who left her family home in Wyoming to marry her late husband who, along with her and Julian, became real estate "flippers." She left behind a sister who had a daughter named Sienna who married Kerry, the oldest son of a local family ranch dynasty, and they had a daughter who was diagnosed with leukemia during a period when Sienna discovered Kerry was really gay and they got divorced.Follow?The story is told in alternating POV chapters by Kerry (on the cover) and Julian (who should have been as well). Even though there are a lot of nasty complications involving Kerry's family, when Julian's mother conspires with her sister to shuttle Julian off to Wyoming for the summer things slowly but logically fall into line.This slow-burn romance is quite accurate in virtually every respect except that it is quite obvious that Ms. Lee does not live in New York because on the only two occasions when she noted where Julian and his parents lived and mostly worked she uses the phrase "in Long island" rather than "on Long Island," and that is quite unforgivable in some quarters.Still, it's the only mistake in a book that is far, far from being one. Nice. I don't normally write reviews but I had to on this one. A wounded veteran returns home and has trouble adjusting until he goes west. There are a lot of things to like about this book: so much so that I had to buy it. You have a veteran that returns home after being wounded overseas and has a hard time coping with life in the big city. He takes a chance and goes to Wyoming to visit his cousin for the summer only to find that she has divorced an out of the closet cowboy in a small town. This story will pull at the heart strings and have you flipping the next page to find out what happens next. There is a small amount of gay sex but it only adds to the story. It has you pulling for a happy ending with 2 pigs and an injured horse that reminds you of someone. If you are looking for sex, look somewhere else; but if you are looking for a story that will leave you rooting for fairytale ending, then look no further. It is well written with a veteran looking to ride off in the sunset with his cowboy. I wish there were more stories like this. You will not be disappointed in this one.
